Thomas is a sound artist, field recordist, and musician
based in Arizona’s Sonoran Desert on the
ancestral lands of the O’Odham (known as the Pima),
Piipaash (known as the Maricopa), and their ancestors.
I’ve made lots of field recordings around Arizona over the last several years. Not every minute of every recording finds its way into a project, but I find that I really enjoy listening to many of the recordings in their entirety and I hear something new each time I do. I thought others might enjoy them, too, and so I created an internet “radio” station to share them. Many of the recordings are “nature” recordings—rivers, streams, birds, wind in the trees. Others are recordings of special events in places I’ve visited. Some are just sound sketches of ordinary moments someplace in the state or use contact mics or hydrophones to create unexpected aural encounters with familiar places.
Please have a listen from the player above.
